An open book exam comprised primarily of multiple choice and case studies. Learners are expected to create Reformer programs for three rehab clients, either real or fictional. The quiz is hosted on Jotform with the ability to pause and save progress. Total writing time is 1.5 to 2 hours in total.
This portion of the exam requires the learner to submit a video of themselves teaching a friend or client the exercises outlined in one of the case studies discussed in the written exam. The video should be approximately 20 min in length, and submitted remotely. Logistics re: submission are outlined in the course details.
The short answer is no, this certification is not accredited by PMA. Given that I set out to create my Foundational Reformer course for health and fitness pros only, it does not include the anatomy lessons required by the PMA to be recognized. That said, Pilates is not regulated and therefore PMA accreditation is not needed to teach or acquire professional insurance.
Not at all! While some learners complete the course and exam within a month, others can take much longer. There is no timeline for submission.
FAQs
There is no cost to re-taking the written exam, however subsequent Practical exam attempts will incur a $75 CAD charge.
I get it. Filming a real client in a work setting is not always easy, especially when it comes to keeping other clients out of frame or obtaining consent. If you can get a friend or family member to to help act as a client that's perfectly ok.
